TCS Begins Fresher Hiring for FY25: Opportunities for 2024 Batch
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's largest information technology services company, has announced the commencement of fresher hiring, signaling a positive trend in the IT sector. This move comes as a relief to engineering graduates, as several IT firms had previously frozen recruitments due to a slump in demand.
TCS is inviting applications from BTech, BE, MCA, MSc, and MS batches of 2024. The application deadline is April 10, with tests scheduled for April 26. While TCS has not specified the number of openings or roles, it is encouraging news for freshers eager to kickstart their careers in the IT industry.
The company is offering positions in three categories - Ninja, Digital, and Prime. The Ninja category offers a package of Rs 3.36 lakhs per annum for various roles, while the Digital and Prime categories offer Rs 7 lakh and Rs 9-11.5 lakh per annum, respectively.
Milind Lakkad, Chief HR Officer, TCS, expressed excitement about the campus hiring process, stating, "We have commenced our campus hiring process for the next year and see tremendous excitement among freshers to join TCS." While it is challenging to specify the exact number of hires, Lakkad hinted at a significant recruitment drive.
For the financial year 2023-24, TCS had a target of hiring 40,000 freshers. The company's decision to start the hiring process early reflects its optimism about the industry's growth trajectory and the demand for skilled professionals.
In contrast, rival Infosys indicated no immediate campus hiring requirements in January. However, reports suggest that the company was hired for niche roles in February. This trend indicates a cautious yet optimistic approach by IT firms, considering the fluctuations in demand and market conditions.
The tech industry's growth and job creation are crucial for the economy, especially in light of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Industry body NASSCOM has projected the creation of 60,000 new jobs in the financial year 2023-24, a modest increase compared to the previous fiscal year.
Overall, TCS's decision to kickstart fresher hiring for FY25 is a positive development for the industry and aspiring professionals. It underscores the resilience and adaptability of the IT sector, which continues to be a key driver of economic growth and innovation in India.
